The Redemption Period begins approximately 30 days after a domain reaches its expiration date. Initially, there is a 30-day grace period following the expiration, during which you can renew the domain without incurring additional fees. After this grace period, if the domain remains unrenewed, it enters the Redemption Period, which lasts another 30 days.
During the Redemption Period, the domain is temporarily unavailable, but you can still recover it by paying a redemption fee starting at ₱6000 PHP / $100 USD. After the fee is paid, the domain will enter a 5 to 10-day Pending Delete phase before being removed from the registry entirely. At this point, the domain becomes available to the public for registration.
This process applies to popular domain extensions such as .COM, .NET, and .ORG. Other TLDs may have different rules regarding expiration and renewal.
